Client Critiques

I spent various months researching HDTV's and finally landed on this model (Samsung LN40D630). I read a lot of the forums on line (Cnet.com) about this specific unit, and I had quite a few issues that wound up becoming unfounded. I think the most effective way to approach this critique is to do it by some of the main features, so right here goes:
AutoMotion Plus (AMP):
I was initially concerned about the AutoMotion Plus feature. Countless forum posts complained about it. I was afraid it would be too smooth (i.e too substantially "soap opera impact"). My concerns were unfounded. It really is effortless to turn off this feature and it is easy to customize. I like that it is customizable by SOURCE (which means the settings for your cable may be various for your DVD or BluRay player and the Tv will save them as such). I like it especially much for rapid-motion (such as hockey games) and use the "clear setting" for just about every little thing else. The "demo mode" is a good feature showing you the comparison of AMP on and off on a splitscreen. pretty cool.
Connectshare:
This is the feature that permits you to plug in a USB challenging drive or thumb drive and play videos, music, or appear at images. I am pleased to say that this speedily has become my favored feature because I have a lot of videos saved on my computer system. The Tv does a fantastic job reading just about all of the key file formats. The external HD powers off when the Tv turns off, which is a good feature (because I do not have keep in mind to unplug it each time I shut off the Television and vice versa). The built-in video player interface firmware works terrific (pause, rapid forward, and returns you to the location where you left off if you have to shut down, even if you turn every little thing off and come back later). The music player interface is a bit clunky, but it functions ok. My only complaint about the music player is that it doesn't comprise of a shuffle feature. I've written Samsung and asked that such feature be included in future firmware upgrades.
Firmware Upgrade:
A single of the initially points I did was upgrade the firmware. The instructions on Samsung's site (and in the owner's manual) had been hassle-free and worked perfectly. I look forward to additional refinements from Samsung.
Allshare:
As I know it, this feature enables you to plug your Tv into your Pc and watch the videos, look at pix, or play music you have stored there. I haven't really set this up but, but I did download and install the Allshare software from Samsung on my Computer and I setup my media server in no time flat. Quite effortless and straightforward. All I desire now is a extended ethernet cable to plug it into the Tv (you can go wireless with a unique USB wireless adapter, but the adapter is a lot a lot more pricey than an ethernet cable!). I'll be plugging the Tv directly into my router. Fingers crossed. But even if it does not operate, it is honestly no massive deal to save media on an external USB difficult drive and plug it into the Tv directly. [I'll update my review right after I've had a chance to experiment with this feature].
Television Picture High quality:
Samsung is hard to beat in this category. The image in the retailer looked amazing. And looked even improved in my residence environment. Clear, crisp, spectacular. Really pleased!
Sound Quality and Outputs:
This is possibly the weakest feature of this Tv. The sound is often "tinny." Luckily there are a number of without difficulty selectable default sound settings that let you to compensate. The Clear Voice setting functions superb for dialog. An equalizer is included for a custom setting, which can also help compensate some as nicely. I was disappointed that the unit did not have a dedicated headphone out jack on the side. It does, on the other hand, consist of a single "audio out" jack in the back. This operates fine with my wireless headphones which are amplified (i.e. built-in volume manage), but it will not perform well with "dumb" headphones (with no amplification). Since there is only 1 audio output jack, I had to plug in a splitter to send the audio out signal to each my headphones and my house stereo, which works fine. It also has an optical audio out jack, but my property stereo is ancient and won't accept that input type. I wish the audio out jack was variable (i.e. volume would be controlled by the Television), but it isn't. Maybe the optical audio output is variable... I don't know... haven't attempted it.
That about sums up the important characteristics of this Television. General I am very pleased with my option. Hope this helps you!

I bought this Television to replace a 2006 LG plasma that went out of commission. It was going to price $300-350 to fix it so why not spend a small added for a brand new Tv... General particularly happy with the Television, it was a pretty great value for the price.
1) Picture good quality - of course compared to the old LG plasma, the picture top quality of brilliant. Wealthy colors, pretty small glare on the screen, fairly fine viewing angle. I looked at this and numerous other Samsung models at a neighborhood electronics retailer, and I honestly could not tell considerably difference among this model and some of the greater-finish models in terms of just the picture. I was specifically interested in the D550, which is about $100 more affordable since it is 60 Hz, but the D630 did have a compact but noticeable improvement in fine details in particular with moving objects. I also thought about the D5500 but to me there was not substantially distinction amongst LCD and LED all else being equal. I can see why LED would be appealing for folks who program to hang it on the wall, but if you are going to let it sit on a stand you cannot seriously appreciate how thin it is anyway. Created a great deal more sense to invest the extra $100 for 120 Hz than LED.
2) Sound superior - so so, but what do you expect from a Television. It is beneficial for normal Tv viewing, I definitely like the "clear voice" mode which lets you hear conversations very easily devoid of cranking up the volume. The Tv speakers sound a tiny thin or hollow if you are watching a movie.
three) Other capabilities - remote works fine, nothing especially excellent or negative. Television stand swivels, which is great. Connectivity is really good, four HDMI and two USB are extra than enough for me. It does not have built in wireless, which didn't matter for me given that my router generally sits under the Television anyway so I just hook up the ethernet cable if I required internet connection. No internet browser or apps, which once again would have been pretty useless for me because I can get all of that via my PS3. I tried the Allshare feature to stream videos from my computer system to the Tv. It functions okay but I uncover it much easier to just connect my portable difficult drive to the Tv.

Client Critiques

Initial I didnt purchase at Amazon, a competitor had it for $50 less expensive at the time.
It was to begin with hooked up to a computer on VGA output only and it was especially very good. Next I tested the HD with my satellite HDTV and then the the DVD. No complications there either it looked awesome worked as really good as my 55" Samsung. I didnt try any gaming.
Don't forget this is thicker than a LCD-LED Television this one is three.5" thick. Wonderful luck on finding any reviews or the downloadable owners manual appropriate now.
Inputs on the back side bottom facing downward: HDMI 1, HDMI two, RCA type Composite vid input, RCA type Component vid input (YPbPr), RCA sort Left and perfect audio input, VGA Port (Computer input), Headphone output, Computer Audio input, RCA kind Coaxial orange color, Cable/Antenna, A/C power socket. Inputs on the back ideal hand side: RCA kind Video, Left and Appropriate Audio, HDMI three.
This comes with a plastic stand and four screws. It can also be mounted to a wall (400mm x 200mm pattern) but you have to get the 4 M4 screws.
So far so fantastic I'll update later if any difficulties.

I am getting a ball watching HD movies and HD network shows. I promised my wife not to go more than $300 for a flat screen. This iSymphony from Amazon.com came in below spending budget and it boasts 1080p capability. The 32 inch model is plenty significant for my small living space. We watch from a couch that is about 8 feet away and the picture is just proper. I can adjust the picture color, brightness, contrast and sharpness to get it just right. The presets are beneficial (typical, vivid, theater, and so on.) but I like to tweak the picture to get it to my liking. I was pleasantly surprised by the sound excellent. A lot of volume and the bass can be emphasized for a solid sound. The built-in surround sound functions fairly well, specifically for movies, when you can listen with the volume up. I made some adjustments to the "balance" to center the sounds for dialog.
Because I have just installed the Television this week I have no extended term knowledge, but so far it is well worth the value. Shipping from Amazon.com was stunning. I ordered it one particular day and I was installing it the subsequent (for just $3.99 additional, due to the fact I have Amazon Prime). I have my Time Warner Cable hooked up now. It looks like you will want a separate antenna if you want to received more than the air signals. This is correct with any Television, I believe.
I checked out the iSymphony brand as considerably as I could over the internet and concluded that it was likely as good as most. We'll see, but it looks good so far.

Consumer Evaluations

I purchased this Toshiba to replace the 32" TCL LCD in my bedroom - gave the TCL to my son. Just got this Tv yesterday and I wanted to give my first impressions and address some of the concerns listed in other critiques, both here and on other internet sites. The 3 most important criticisms of this Television had been:
1. Only two HDMI ports - I only needed a single or two ports anyway, so this did not bother me. If you are getting this as your primary unit, you require to weigh this considerably. There are techniques around it, such as a receiver with HDMI-in ports or an HDMI switch, but unless you own these already, it's funds you could spend on a larger Tv.
2. Sound - OK, the sound on this is not awesome, but it is not as poor as some people are generating it out to be. I would say it is about average for TV's of this size and level (I install TV's in clients' conference rooms from time to time). I was truly expecting it to be poor after some of the reviews, so when it quite much sounded on par with my 32" TCL, it type of created me laugh. I was also able to modify the Dolby settings (Compressed or Regular - you have to choose what you like better) to strengthen the sound. What critics likely dislike is the lack of bass. There is quite substantially no bass, but I feel the exact same way about every other Television of this size I have heard. It does not have RCA or analog out, so you can't install computer system speakers, like some reviewers have complained about. It does have an optical out, which is superior given that it is feature-forward. I have a Panasonic soundbar currently, so I plugged the Tv optical out into my soundbar and every thing sounded wonderful. I would by no means spend the dollars on a Tv of this size and use the built-in speakers. At the particularly least, go with a sound bar. Panasonic tends to make a rather really good a single and Vizio has 1 for under $100 on Amazon. My Panasonic is perfect for the bedroom - shows and movies are immersive and the voices are crystal clear. If you want a good sound method with complete bass and do not want to run wires or get a receiver, get the Panasonic soundbar with the subwoofer. If you just want to drastically enhance the sound of the Tv, you can decide to purchase the soundbar with no subwoofer. It will do nicely (I do not have the subwoofer).
3. Weak HD tuner - I have no thought what the crucial reviewers are talking about. This Television picked up every single QAM channel, which includes unencrypted digital, that my cable organization provides. What this means is that I hooked the Television straight to my cable line and it picked up all of the local digital HD stations, the music stations, and cable analog stations. It performed as nicely as my other TV's with no predicament. I then hooked up my indoor HD antenna and it picked up 38 stations, such as every single Milwaukee HD channel and some from Chicago. I live nearly 50 miles from Milwaukee and 70 miles from Chicago. It worked as well or much better than my other TV's. To put this in context, if I appear up on the web what channels I am supposed to obtain for my location, it lists 25 stations. I get 38. The Tv also has a nice feature that shows how powerful the signal is when you pull up a channel.
All in all, the Toshiba is a superb Tv for the cash, specially at $399.98. The picture top quality is excellent and the screen has a good matte finish, so there are no reflections. It is a 60Hz Tv, so there will probably be some artifacting through Bluray movie action sequences, but that is to be expected.
It was simple and easy to set up and does everything I ask from a Television of this class.

Good picture and fantastic value for the dollars but the sound quality is unbearably poor. There is no analog out for sound but there is a digital out. Although about adding speakers but decided to return and decide to purchase LG for $50 significantly more.

Client Reviews

Like most of you I under no circumstances have heard of iSymphony and was a little skeptical about acquiring this HDTV. This was the cheapest priced 32" 1080p HDTV I have ever observed and I was afraid I was going to get what I paid for. The Television listed for $276.00, about $100.00 less costly then the rest. Due to the ease of Amazon's return policy and Pretty cheep value I decided to give it a try and I am glad I did! This factor came out of the box nicely packaged. It has a rather reasonable sized stand to protect it from tip-over's. Out of the box, screw the stand in place, plug it in and turned it on, very uncomplicated setup and did not have to mess with the settings at all. The picture is crystal clear and games look stunning on it. I run my Xbox and Computer threw this negative boy and it looks just as fine as my 27" Pc monitor! I say if you are in the marketplace for a 1080p HDTV, give this 1 a shot. I'll contemplate shopping for from iSymphony in the future if this Television holds up.
The only complaint I have is if this Tv is going to have wi-fi capabilities then it will need to be built into the Television and not add a USB wi-fi adapter to plug into the only USB slot.

Nice Tv... But problems with Vudu connections. Also, this Tv respons sooo slow... Like when you hit a button on the remote, it takes forever for it to respond. Nonetheless, a nice Tv for the $~ My daughter is pleased with it! I guess that is all tha matters...

    Client Evaluations

I previously purchased an LG 42LD550, employed it for a handful of months and was fairly content with its excellent, but the 42" screen size was a tiny too little for my living space, so I decided to get a larger Television rather. The LD550 has far better capabilities than the LK520 -- its net application was one particular thing that attracted me, but it demands an adapter which does not come with the Television, so I under no circumstances got to test it. I guess I do not require this feature anyway, so I returned it and bought the 47" LK520, at the similar cost --- it was on sale on Amazon for about 7 hundred.
    The shipping:
This model came out in March 2011, and I placed the order in April. I guess considering it is relatively new, so I had to wait four-6 weeks for the item to be shipped.
So soon after waiting patiently for over one month, my Television finally came. I was expecting the guys from the shipping corporation to open the box and let me check the Television, just like what they did when I bought the other LG model. I was surprised when they told me they couldn't open the box, and that I need to open it on my personal, and preserve the box for a year in case I desire to return it. This sounds a little weird, but I signed the delivery sheet anyway.
    The assembling:
It only took a few minutes to assemble this Tv. My brother and I laid the panel on my sofa bed with the screen facing down, and secured the base/stand with a couple of screws. It looks like the stand was created of some low-priced plastic. I hope it is a lot more sturdy than it looks.
    The appear:
This Tv has a uncomplicated, sophisticate design. I like the matt screen and the glossy black frame. There is a little blue light on the lower correct corner when the Television is on. Althought the remote control is painless to use, the style looks boring and low cost, some buttons/capabilities appear like a duplicate to me. But I guess it is not a major deal, as lengthy as it operates.
    Sound superior:
There are a variety of sound modes you can pick out from. It was set to "standard" by default, and the volume was low, but it was considerably better when I switched it to "music" or "cimema". I also turned on the "surround sound" feature. More than all I am happy with the sound superior.
    Picture excellent:
I've had this Tv for about two weeks now, at very first I was impressed with the picture quality -- it is crisp and clear, and the color looks incredibly nice, just like the LD550 model. I set the picture mode to "Cinema" --the "standard" mode is a bit too vivid for my sensitive eyes. Of course you can make and save your personal picture mode by adjusting the brightness, color, and contrast, etc. But 1 day I noticed the brightness on the Tv screen altered suddenly --- it went darker, then just after a though it went bright again (looks comparable to when there are rolling clouds in the sky on a sunny day). I did not turn on the "inteligent sensor" and I feel the lighting in my room did not transform. I did not have this challenge with the LD550 model. I am not certain if I got a defective item or what. Appropriate now I give this Television a 4 star, and hoping there is an hassle-free fix for the brightness problem. I'll test it for a couple of a great deal more days and make a decision whether I will need to call LG, or return it....
UPDATE: I found out the reason that my Tv would suddenly go darker is due to the fact I had the "Engergy Saver" on (it was set to "Auto"). So whenever the sensor in the Tv detects a transform of lighting in the space, it'll adjust the screen brightness automatically. Occasionally the screen goes so dark I can hardly see. I am not confident how a lot power it can save by doing this, but I get it annoying to me, so I turned the feature off, and the issue solved! I am glad I do not have to return this Television. I am pleased with my purchase so far.

I have had this Tv for only a couple of days, but it appears to be specifically what I wanted. The LK520 LG model is extremely related to the earlier model LD520 (highly rated), except that the dynamic contrast is apparently a bit improved for the LK520(150K to 1 vs 100K), but I suspect that may possibly not be that substantial.
    INPUT-OUTPUT
It has sufficient inputs (HDMI, component, and so on), and outputs, although I still wish these new HDTVs had a normal stereo output (ie., 2 RF outputs) so I could use them with my old amplifier. The LK520 only has 1 optical digital audio output. Still, the sound from the LK520 speakers is surprisingly robust, although most will probably want much more to complete the residence theater encounter. The LK520 also has a USB port, but I have not utilized this however. The specs say you can connect your external USB devices for JPEG photos or MP3 files. (Note, this model does NOT have any internet connection capabilities--even so you could hook this up to a BluRay DVD player that has this capability, if you want it).
I hooked up my cable box via an HDMI cord, and the LK520 delivers a clear HD picture and does well with frequent SD channels also. I hooked up the Tv with component inputs from my oldish DVD player, and it looked incredibly very good. (Some day I will get a BluRay, so I can see even more pores, I guess, on close ups...).
    Capabilities
The LK520 has 120 Hz, so if you watch a lot of sports, this may well be necessary (I don't). So possibly the 60 Hz LG LK450 may possibly be OK for you, and save you 60-80$. Still, note that the LK520 has a slightly higher dynamic contrast compared to the 60 Hz 42 inch LG LK450 (150K vs 100K).
The weight is only about 35 lbs, so it is reasonably uncomplicated (if a bit awkward) to carry about. Also, the screen does not seem to have any critical reflection issues in stronger lighting scenarios.
The Tv picture can be adjusted to your preferences, but I located the default settings fantastic sufficient for me. It is Power Star rated, which is superior, but I found the "intelligent sensor" adjustments a bit too dark for me. Nevertheless, you can adjust this as your wish.
SUMMARY: I don't assume you can go incorrect with this great LG HDTV. I would rate it at four.5 stars. Some minor limitations on audio output and the somewhat high price that I paid at a huge box retailer (BB) created me give it a four rather of five.
I may possibly update this if I get any issues later....

    Client Critiques

We have had two new HD TVs for just a bit more than five months. One is a 23" Sony and 1 a 32" LG. The Sony hooked up conveniently, but the LG was like our first color set. We diddled with picture, sound, aspect ratio, and other settings to get the most effective picture and sound on each channel. I nevertheless do not know if the differences in between channels is resolution, settings, or in the case of the news, makeup. But we had been just pleased to get it so that we could see all the face lifts...
Now for the Haier, a somewhat unknown Chinese brand of high definition Television. I plugged it into our Comcast cable box making use of an HDMI cable, and bingo, a bright and sharp picture with great sound. For a few minutes I was positive a mistake was made, and we had been offered a 1080p rather of the 720 that was on the box. Maybe anything under 50 inches doesn't matter. We believe that the Haier is just as great and perhaps even a tiny superior picture than the LG! Not one factory setting had to be changed!
The sound from the built-in speakers is outstanding - in portion due to employing an HTMI cable - and the Sound Leveler really operates. No even more spikes when altering channels and it even works on commercials that applied to blare ten db greater than the system.
(The hookups and excellent are especially very good with our DVD player and photographs on a flash drive, but they will not be implemented quite significantly. The Television will not be used with our personal computer, so I can not address that either. Some will complain about the inputs being placed below a lip in the back, but most HD TVs use the exact same configuration for the reason that so countless individuals will wall mount the Tv. If the plugs were straight in, the Television would not be flush with the wall.)
Initially, we had so a lot difficulty with the remote from Comcast, that I was about to give this only 4 stars. We can only get HD by way of the Comcast box, and the Comcast remote - as negative as it is - should certainly be our only remote. But the Comcast remote would not accept the two codes for the Haier Television, and I thought we would have to use two remotes. I known as Comcast, and they gave me the same two numbers that came with their box. I named Haier, and they told me that they Didn't HAVE CODES FOR Comcast.
All was not lost, then again. I went on line, asked for "Comcast remote codes for Haier," and the second link was a discussion exactly where one particular respondent stated, "Try the codes for DURABRAND."
The third code below Durabrand (10178), and we were set!
(And, because I've now been asked this question four instances by people who are concerned about no matter if it will fit into their cabinets, the set is 31.25 inches wide, i.e., side-to-side! The 37.8 inches they refer to is diagonally!)
I stated in the title of this assessment that it was unexpectedly fabulous. Nicely, this is a phenomenal Tv primarily contemplating that it was the least expensive of all 32 inch HD sets. We now have fantastic Hi Def in our bedroom where, in six minutes, I'm going to watch the last game of the Globe Series! (Certain, I could watch it in the living room, but I like new experiences.)

    UPDATE Dec-2011:
The finest element about this Tv was its below $200 cost. But now that it really is back to its common value, there may be improved possibilities such as the LG 32LK330, the Panasonic TC-L32C3, or the Samsung LN32D403. Or you can upgrade to the bigger TCL 40" Tv which I also reviewed. For a little bit a great deal more money, you get a 57% improve in viewing region, a Samsung 1080p panel, an enhance in sound top quality, and a 2 year warranty.
    ORIGINAL Evaluation:
I purchased this Tv on sale in Nov. 2011 for $197. It's an updated model of Haier L32B1120. I'll rate every category in Amazon's program of 1 to five stars. My ratings are relative to how this Tv stacks up against other TVs in its value range.
    SETUP (three stars)
For wall mounting, you need a VESA 400x200mm compliant mount such as this, this, or this. I used the plastic stand. The 2 shorter screws go into the best holes which wasn't stated in the manual. If you're attempting to fit it into a shelf, the dimensions with stand are 31.25" x 22" x 8.five". The power cord does not have a power brick attached which is a plus. I don't have a problem with the connections getting on the bottom of the Tv since I'll only be connecting them 1 time. I consider the headphone connection on the rear bottom to be a style flaw. (If you do want to use headphones, obtaining some thing like this should solve the problem.) I am working with a mastering universal remote which did discover codes for this Television.
    PICTURE (five stars)
I changed the preset picture setting to 'Theater'. I also altered the 'Backlight' to 9. There are some slight flickering when it's set to 8 or lower. I watched some blu-ray movies from an Amazon recommended distance of about 6 feet and didn't notice any apparent picture defects. The viewing angle is quite superior for an LCD. The black level is average, but the brightness is good. The screen is glossy, so do watch out for glare. BTW, you will not notice a distinction between a 720p and a 1080p 32" Television when viewed at a normal viewing distance.
    GAMING (five stars)
I hooked up my Xbox 360, tried a couple games, and didn't notice any input lag.
AUDIO (1 star, 3 stars if it wasn't broken)
The audio sounds about perfect for 7 watt LCD Television speakers, which isn't terrific but passable for a bedroom. You can hook up speakers to it via coaxial digital audio out or headphone out. The Tv speakers do not automatically turn off when you plug into the headphone out although. (You desire to press the mute button.) Here's my only difficulty with this Tv: When the sound is coming through the HDMI, it really is fine. But when I hooked up the sound via the two sets of RCA inputs or the Computer audio in, I get static noises. It sounds like a slightly out of range radio station one particular moment sound appears fine, but one other moment the static cuts in, specially noticeable for the duration of quiet segments.
    RELIABILITY ? (Unrated)
This is the very first widely used Tv from this brand, so I'll have to have a couple alot more months ahead of determining how trustworthy it is. I suggest finding the SquareTrade extended warranty for some peace of mind.
    Value (five stars)
Absolutely free shipping, zero cost 30 day return, delivered to your door in 2 days for $197 is tough to beat.
I would have rated this Television a 5 star if it wasn't for the broken audio. Rather of exchanging it, I returned it right after finding a fantastic deal on a bigger Television.

I chose this model more than other 32-inch LCDs mainly because I'm a sucker for things like network streaming, a five-band equalizer, picture-in-picture, and firmware updating. It also has a semi-documented headphone jack in the rear -- just turn off the speakers for it to operate. Also, the power cable detaches, so you can replace that yourself.
One may dismiss this Television altogether since it doesn't have LED edge lighting, but that tech does not appear to be earning its price tag premium so far, thinking about a greater percentage of panel defects, and a black level so intense that detail commonly gets lost. 60Hz is also not a deal-breaker, because 120Hz tends to only show its strength with sports programming.
The picture high quality is ultimately subjective, of course. But I located it nicely above typical. However, you can't completely disable Dynamic Contrast. The Television will tell you that it really is off, but some enterprising Internet detectives at televisioninfo.com have determined that this is a ruse, which leads to some unavoidable light trailing and somewhat crushed blacks. DVDs look surprisingly good, and regular-definition signals appear pretty solid but not outstanding.
Dynamic Contrast, Black Tone, Shadow Detail, Edge Enhancement and the noise filters must possibly be turned off. However, these capabilities can develop significantly more issues than they solve use them sparingly. Like Spider-Man when said, "With power comes responsibility."
I have a Roku box connected via HDMI, an Xbox 360 by way of component, and clear QAM cable Television by way of the RF antenna jack in the rear. These hookups are going straight into the Tv inputs -- no receiver. I figure that this eliminates a testing variable or two. Picture good quality and sound was terrific from all three sources. When I streamed Netflix over Xbox Live, the Xbox appeared to upscale to 1080i. I could not get my 720p Roku box to do this more than HDMI.
(Edit: I have also now tried a third-party VGA adapter for the Xbox 360. It looks quite really good employing the console's "Expanded" reference level at least on par with component, and upscaled DVDs look quite great, but not as wonderful as Blu-ray.)
Audio is in a better boat, considering that the SRS functions can really be turned off (as far as we know). There's also that 5-band equalizer. I believed the Tv did surprisingly nicely for two downward-facing 10-watt speakers, but they won't quite replace dedicated external audio.
The D550 does not do Online apps, but this feature is becoming increasingly redundant. As for network sharing, you are not restricted to Samsung's proprietary, Windows-only "Computer Share Manager" computer software, either. There's a selection of no cost, multi-platform software that deal with networked media libraries. Sadly, Samsung appears to have not implemented DLNA according to spec, so you can have difficulty acquiring third-party software to function effectively. I had the very best expertise with TVMobili, which is thankfully cost-free and compatible with Windows, Mac, and Linux. Serviio is also fine.
In its promotional material, Samsung swears that its Wi-Fi "LinkStick" dongle is required for wireless networking (and it is not bundled with this Television). This is just not the case. You can just use a wireless-N Ethernet "game adapter," which can be had for as little as $30 if you shop about. Dongles are also only compatible with a handful of devices from one manufacturer.
(Edit: It's come to my attention that an Intellinet 523974 might also perform in spot of Samsung's official dongle. I cannot directly confirm it, although. It is also reportedly two.4Ghz, even though the dual-band Samsung model adds a 5Ghz choice.)
The "E-manual" built into the TV's menu program is not particularly fantastic and is tricky to navigate. The PDF version on their internet site is... a PDF version of the e-manual. Which is white text on a black background. So a lot for printing it out...
Also, the two-piece pedestal demands a Phillips screwdriver. That is not negative, but the screws needed rather a lot of torque to get them all the way in. Also, you need to attach the top part at a particular angle, or else it will not be flush with the base.
A note about shipping: Amazon Prime does not at present provide 2-day or next-day shipping for this unit "3-five business days" is the official line. This is not unusual for items of this size and weight. Nonetheless, the unit arrived at my door much less than 48 hours soon after I ordered it. So I appreciate Amazon's and UPS's fast service! But your personal knowledge will differ according to your distance from the warehouse and other variables.
(Update 4/25: This item is not at present shipped from and sold by Amazon, nor eligible for Amazon Prime. "Video Audio Center" is handling the item rather. I am not familiar with their service, so the earlier paragraph does not apply to the current obtain expertise. "3-five business enterprise days" is still the official shipping time, but I do not know how long it can take this third party to course of action the order just before shipping. It could take a couple of hours, or a handful of days. Just a friendly heads-up.)
In spite of this TV's quirks and poor documentation, I feel it gets five stars for a truly excellent picture and above-typical sound (as extended as you tweak that equalizer for some bass). I guess that's what matters most in the finish, perfect?
Please leave a comment if I've left you with questions, and I'll answer to the best of my expertise.

Just reporting in to say that the unit is nevertheless performing just fine. It's performed pretty nicely as an interim laptop or computer monitor -- just make confident to label the input as "Pc." I don't advocate applying it as a permanent personal computer display, for the reason that pixel density at this screen size is sub-optimal. (At desktop distance, you don't want larger than 24 inches, assuming a maximum resolution of 1920x1080.) But with some cool-looking wallpaper, its presence is not unwelcome :)
Nonetheless, LG has been pricing their LCDs particularly aggressively lately, so I advocate researching those units as nicely.

For the last year I've been looking for a Tv to replace my 2009 Samsung 26" LCD. It had what some many people call "smudging" or "smearing" where if two actually dark images move near one yet another, the black area would leave a trail. It looks sort of like when you make a dark circle with a pencil and run your finger over it. It made night scenes in films and games certainly distracting. I even saw it in folks with black hair watching 720p Lost episodes.
From what I can tell so far, this set has none of it. I went through a Sony, a Toshiba, an LG, and yet another Samsung. All but the LG had this issue, and the LG had atrocious black levels due to it being a technically "improved" IPS panel. I really like my LG IPS monitors, but for Tv it looks awful. So I stuck with Samsung's PVA panels, and boy am I glad I did.
I quickly turned off all the video processing solutions and turned the backlight down from 14 to 8. IMPECCABLE picture as far as I am concerned. Looks extraordinary even at 1080i. It is no plasma, but hey, 32-inch plasmas do not exist, so I'm content material with LCD.
I have no idea how the input lag is for video games since I play somewhat slowly paced games. No fighters, competitive FPS, or other twitch reflex games in my library. I'd be a bit leery if that is super important for you till a great deal more correct tests are out there. It appears fine to me, but I'm not quite sensitive to lag, so take it with a grain of salt.
Bottom line, superb picture superior, excellent black levels (for an LCD), decent motion handling (it IS only 60Hz), lots of alternatives to mess with, a lot of inputs, a sleek style. I would decide to buy this Tv again in a heartbeat, personally. As the to begin with reviewer said, JUST what I was searching for.
